Friends of the Mustangs Trail Riding Etiquette and Guidelines

PLEASE NOTE: The following guidelines were adopted by the Friends of the Mustangs for trail rides organized by FOM.

1. No dogs allowed on the trail rides.

2. There should be at least one horse length between riders.

3. No running up on other horses.

4. If wanting to gallop your horse on the trail, please let other riders know what your plans are before you start, as there may be green horses and/or riders on the trail.

5. If a horse is prone to KICKING, please tie a RED RIBBON on his/her tail to alert fellow riders.

6. If gates are closed, please make sure to close them after you pass. If they are open, they may remain open. Make sure the rider opening/closing the gate has remounted and is ready to proceed before riding off.

7. All riders within a group shall be mounted before leaving.

8. Riders not wanting to stay with the group MUST notify the Trail Leader and Drag Rider of their intensions and route. If you choose to split off, YOU are responsible for your own safety, return, and departure from the location.

9. No stallions.

10. Use common sense and keep if safe and fun for everyone!!!
